Cupertino: Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled a series of new products at its 'Back to the Mac' event which includes MAC OS X Lion, MacBook Air and iLife 11 application suite at its Cupertino headquarters. The most notable of all the new products, was MacBook Air, a lightest Mac laptop with features borrowed from iPhones and iPads. Below is a brief highlight of the products launched at the event. Apple MacBook Air:
Like the iPad, MacBook Air comes with a flash memory and has no hard drive. It weighs 2.3 pounds (1 kg) and measures 0.11 inches at its thinnest to 0.68 inches at the rear. It also incorporates Facetime video chats and an apps store. The device runs on a 2.13 GHz Intel Core Duo Processor. It has a 13.3 inch LED backlit display with a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels. The models start at $999 and have started shipping already.
"We asked ourselves what would happen if a MacBook and an iPad hooked up? Well, this is the result," said the Apple supremo Steve Jobs.
Apple Mac OS X Lion:
This is a new version of Mac operating software or MAC OS X. Like iPhone or iPad, it provides an option of downloading the different apps from the App store. It also has the other features like multitouch, full screen function and the launch pad. Lion includes an improved "iLife" multimedia suite and the newly-released FaceTime video chat. MAC OS X Lion will be available in 2011 summer.Unveiling the product, Jobs said, "Lion brings many of the best ideas from the iPad back to the Mac, plus some fresh new ones."
Apple MAC iLife 11:
The Mac event also the launching of a new version of the iLife application suite, iLife 11. Unveiling it along with Steve Jobs, Apple's Senior Vice President, Phil Schiller said, "I get to be the first to show you this great piece of software. I know a lot of you use it. This is the best version yet."Life 11 has a handful of new features like iMove, iPhoto and Garage Band. iMove 11 allows the users to edit the audio and also to insert audio effects into videos. A new feature called Groove Matching in GarageBand 11 has an automatic spell checker for bad rhythm and also FlexTime that helps to fix the timing of your music. iLife 11 application suite is available at $49 for older computers and it is included for free with the operating system.
