The NARQ system is used in roadside environments by police officers to screen motorists for illicit drug use. The system includes a disposable saliva collection cartridge and swabbing pad, as well as a handheld analysis instrument. The officer instructs the motorist to remove the green swab from the cartridge to collect a sample; once collected, the officer then inserts the entire cartridge into the instrument to trigger an automated analysis, which can detect the presence of up to 8 different drug types. Advanced UV detection technology allows fast, accurate results in just 2 minutes, relayed to the OLED touch screen. (via)
